He is perhaps best known for directing the Doctor series of films. His brother, Gerald Thomas, was also a film director. His son, Jeremy Thomas, is a film producer. He cast the actor James Robertson Justice in many of his films. He often worked with the producer Betty E. Box who was married to Carry On producer, Peter Rogers. He was a nephew

On marrying the boss's daughter, Richard takes his father-in-law's advice to hire a live-in domestic. He soon finds good help is hard to come by.
